How does the ear work?
The ear is made up of three main sections:

The Outer Ear

The Middle Ear

The Inner Ear
Sound from the environment travels through the outer ear and then funneled down to the ear canal. When sound travels it causes vibrations, those vibrations cause movement in the eardrum. Then it travels to the three small bones know as ossicles. These bones form the bridge from the eardrum into the inner ear. They increase and amplify the sound vibrations. Then the sound travels through the oval window.
The Inner Ear houses a system of tubes which are filled with a watery fluid. As the sound waves pass through the oval window the fluid starts to move. This process sets tiny hair cells in motion. In turn, these hairs transform the vibrations into electrical impulses that travel along the hearing nerve to the brain.
Each part of the ear has a specific job and does specific functions, all working together to make us hear.
